Position Overview The Behavior Interventionist is responsible for
leading the support for students to help them fulfill their
potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Duties/Responsibilities Coordinates, provides, and supervises
behavioral activities for students. Provide critical guidance to
Teachers to ensure that all staff comply with and meet students’
needs, especially those with special needs. Responsible for
managing and reducing risk within the classroom with the support of
the Lead teacher and seeking assistance when needed to resolve the
matter. Work closely with the Dean of Scholars/Students to
establish a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented school
culture. Assist in partnership with the Director of Student Support
Services to ensure students with IEPs, 504s, and behavior plans
have the support necessary to succeed. Support implementing
positive school investment systems that provide consistent rewards
and consequences for student behavior. Help students adjust, learn,
socialize, and report to teachers about possible behavioral issues.
Collaborate with the Student Support team, Teachers, Parents, and
Students to create and implement support plans for struggling
students. Facilitate the implementation of specific behavioral
intervention plans. Reinforce the effective use of the school-wide
behavior plan, including the school’s merit and demerit system.
Monitor behavioral pull-outs and resets during the school day.
Support the implementation and oversight of after-school
detentions. Coordinates assignments and activities with classroom
teachers of students who received behavioral referrals; provides
tutorial assistance as needed and monitors students' classwork
while in ISS or the classroom. Assists students in examining
misbehavior and developing strategies to prevent recurrences. Works
with other school personnel to assist students in developing
techniques to control and express emotions constructively,
encourage positive student behavior, and promote safety in the
school. Assigns and oversees additional assignments related to
student infractions. Contacts parents regarding student conduct and
behavior modification plans. Monitor hallways and conduct restroom
checks to ensure the safety and well-being of students. Available
for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses,
parent-teacher conferences, and more. Performs routine
administrative office tasks as required, including but not limited
to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing
documents, answering the telephone, sending and receiving documents
and emails, and entering and retrieving data. Assist the Teachers
by problem-solving and making timely determinations with classroom
issues solution focused. KIPP Capital Region Perform other duties

Complies with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and
regulations, including the NYS Department of Education, Department
of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services Adheres
to organization policies and procedures; promotes and supports
mission, vision, and values, including developing and participating
in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement
initiatives. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s
degree preferred. High School Diploma/GED required. Minimum of 1
year of successful experience as an assistant/aide in a classroom
setting or equivalent profession dealing with youth. Prior
experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred
but not required. Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of
regular business hours. Aptitude to create and work within an
inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of
backgrounds and perspectives. Physical Requirements The physical

to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit,
use fingers to type, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls,

reach, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear. Dexterity requires
writing and operating standard office machines such as computers,
printers, copiers, fax machines, phones, and calculators. Ability

a competitive salary ranging from $42,000 - $48,022. Salaries are
determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for
years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the

step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary
