In this role, you will be responsible for supporting engineering activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrications and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems. To be considered for this role, you will have an Associate---s degree in a related discipline or equivalent, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. A current active Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at the time of hire. Optics Technician Job duties: --- Calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. --- Performs a variety of equipment/process operations involving an application or technical skills in a specific area (electrical, software, manufacturing, etc.). --- Interprets complex engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics, and understand the necessary interfaces. --- Works with others in the design and construction of tooling and fixtures to accomplish unique tasks. --- Lays out, builds, calibrates, adjusts, installs and maintains equipment, components, devices or systems. Qualifications: --- A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and strong understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered. --- Work may be done without established procedures. --- Strong proficiency in application and interpretation of complex specifications, requirements, standards and practices. --- Contacts are frequent with individuals representing outside organizations, and/or individuals of significant importance within the company. --- Contacts involve planning and preparation of the communications, require skill, tact, persuasion and/or negotiation to accomplish the objectives of the communications.
