in 13 states and is growing!. We’re hiring a Hydrogeologist with a
background in water resources for our Environmental Division’s
Hydrogeology Group. You can work in a flexible, hybrid work
environment out of one of our offices serving Eastern New York
(Poughkeepsie, Albany, Ballston Spa, or Glens Falls). Join our team
working on challenging, rewarding groundwater resource development,
water quality monitoring, and water resource planning projects! The
Hydrogeologist position in water resources will initially support
senior-level staff hydrogeologists but rapid leadership
opportunities exist with this position responsive to the
applicant’s capacity and market demand. LaBella’s current work
assignments include NYSOGS and NYCDEP term contracts, county-wide
and town-wide groundwater resource studies, a wide range of
municipal water supply projects, and various private sector water
development assignments. Many projects include close coordination
with LaBella’s planners, GIS analysts, engineers, and other
disciplines. Our work environment is dynamic, opportunities are
diverse, and LaBella is alertly responding to the critical nature
of water supply in today’s world. The work expectation includes
providing mentorship to rising staff environmental scientists and
geologists. Duties: • Assist with the siting, rehabilitation,
testing, and permitting of public water supply wells. • Develop and
implement source water protection plans using New York State’s
Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2) guidelines. • Work
may include overseeing monitoring associated with NYCDEP aqueduct
upgrades. • Perform regional groundwater and watershed planning
studies. • Complete occasional analyses which support remediation,
construction, and environmental projects. • Develop technical
scopes of work and cost estimates for proposals and work plans. •
Prepare and review technical reports including graphical
presentation of findings. • Work and communicate effectively with
project teams, clients, regulators, and all other stakeholders. •
Give public presentations and interact with clients. • Coordinate
work schedules with LaBella staff and subcontractors. • Satisfy
internal safety and quality standards. Requirements • Bachelor’s
degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field. • At
least five (5) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible
experience providing hydrogeologic consulting. • Geography is
flexible based on candidate location and existing client base with
consideration of LaBella’s existing office locations in Eastern New
York. • May require occasional travel for field visits. • Specific
knowledge required/preferred includes regulatory familiarity, water
supply and water resource planning capacity. • Field experience
required/preferred includes demonstrated capacity to manage field
water supply sites directly or through supervised staff. •
Self-motivated with ability to perform assigned tasks
independently. • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Organized and detail-oriented. • Excellent technical writing and
analytical skills. • Ability to work as part of a fast-paced team,
manage workload on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver
projects on time. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications: • NYS Professional Geologist License. •
Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field. •
Experience with ArcGIS Pro software. • Familiarity with
technical/modeling software, as appropriate to the project. •
Project management experience is desirable. Salary Range: $85,000 -
$110,000 The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety
of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant
