DIRECTOR OF SAFETY & SECURITY Reporting directly to the Vice President for Administration & Finance, the Director of Safety & Security plans, implements, and monitors appropriate safety, security, and emergency procedures; supervises and evaluates the performance of contracted security personnel; plans and arranges for safety and security training of contracted security personnel, students, faculty, and staff; prepares reports; manages departmental budget; serves as liaison with state and local law enforcement agencies; and performs related work as required. Coordinates and supervises the observance of federal, state, and local laws, and oversees the college rules and regulations regarding safety and security to maintain an appropriate environment for students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Qualifications:-- The successful candidate will possess the following: A minimum of five years of full-time safety and security work experience, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity. Five years of experience in developing and/or administering safety and security Knowledge of supervisory principles and techniques: investigation methods; safety practices and procedures; emergency medical equipment; and radio equipment. Proven record of working in an environment with a diverse General understanding of the Clery Act, including, but not limited to, compliance with the preparation and coordination of federal regulations pertaining to the Clery Act and the Right To Know Ability to plan and conduct training exercises and programs. Ability to work with, and provide appropriate services or referrals for, individuals under physical and emotional stress. Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students in a cooperative and collegial manner, while demonstrating and practicing a campus community philosophy. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work a flexible schedule, as required, due to ongoing investigations, emergencies, or other job-related duties. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to lift over 50 lbs. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree, a plus. Completion of advanced managerial and/or executive training programs.
