Job Description Job Description Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description The Phlebotomist will be responsible for identifying the best method for retrieving specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while maintaining top standards of safety protocol. Responsibilities Verify clinical lab test orders and address discrepancies with appropriate clinical staff. Confirm patient information using two patient identifiers. Determine the best method for obtaining a blood sample based on the specific patient. Obtain blood specimens through venipunctures and fingersticks. Dispose of contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies. Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintain daily tallies of collections performed. Maintain quality results by following department procedures and complying with legal regulations. Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment. Essential Skills Phlebotomy Phlebotomy certification Proficiency in blood draw techniques including butterfly method 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience Additional Skills & Qualifications Phlebotomy Certification Work Environment This position is located in Poughkeepsie and operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poughkeepsie, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
