Job Description Job Description Job Title: Machinist Job Description As a Machinist, you will read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts to determine the required machining operations. You will compute dimensions and tolerances, measure and lay out workpieces, and verify product dimensions for accuracy using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. You will also troubleshoot, debug, and modify operations to achieve expected performance, as well as adjust and set up machine tools for use by machining tool operators. Responsibilities Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts. Compute dimensions and tolerances, and measure and lay out workpieces. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications. Troubleshoot, debug, and modify operations to achieve expected performance. Adjust and set up machine tools for use by machining tool operators. Essential Skills Machinist experience of preferably 2 years, but willing to consider 1 years. Proficient use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop layouts. Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to work with very close tolerances, such as 2/10ths and 5/10ths. Additional Skills & Qualifications Assembly and inspection skills. Experience in machine operation and familiarity with drill press operations. Proficient knowledge of Word and Excel. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work is conducted in a manufacturing setting with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, and additional overtime on Saturdays from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hopewell Junction, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr.
