Job Description:

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • The Employee Assistance Counselor provides direct clinical evaluations/assessments, and practices time-limited individual, marital or family psychotherapy with EAP contracted clients and/or refers to appropriate level of care. The counselor assists with promotion of EAP services through workshops, in-service trainings or written articles. The EAP counselor provides consultation with, training of, and assistance to organization leadership (managers, supervisors, directors, union representation) on the behavioral health needs of employees/staff that enhance the work environment, supports a culture of safety, and improvesemployee job performance. The counselor may provide case management when appropriate and may be required to perform consultation/liaison social work for acutely hospitalized patients/staff. The EAP counselor will conduct critical incident stress debriefings as needed/required guided by BMC policy. S/he will participate in new programs or special projects through the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences based upon the assessed needs of the organization and/or community that are essential to the success of the departmental mission.

  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

  • Experience:

  • Two years experience in psychiatric, community mental health, or healthcare setting.

  • Advanced training in alcohol/drug abuse treatment preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with managed care or case management preferred.

  • Education and Training:

  • Masters degree in Social Work or related field required.

  • License, Certification & Registration:

  • MENTAL HEALTH - LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, PSYD, or PHD

  • Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), CEAP, LADC I desirable

  • Other Requirements:

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Ability to maintain and monitor confidentiality of clients and records.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • MS office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • CPR certified.
