Job Description:
The Senior Manager Clinical Drug Supply Planning and Forecasting
role is a key leadership role within DO&PM. The role holder
will be responsible for translating clinical study designs and key
planning parameters into robust demand forecasts and predictions
for the planned use of clinical supplies across the portfolio. This
position is accountable for the development, maintenance and
communication of clinical trial supplies demand forecasts for a
subset of clinical programs and protocols within the Global
Development portfolio. This position will enable IOPS Supply Chain
to maintain visibility to dynamic clinical trial requirements and
assist in optimizing the use of clinical supply inventories. NOTE:
This role requires 4 days on-site and NOT eligible remote. A
typical day in this role looks like: Collaborates with Clinical
Drug Supply Managers to prepare and present study-level forecasts
and demand plans to key stakeholders within Global Development and
IOPS, covering demand for both internally procured supplies and
projected comparator drug supply purchases. Develop an
understanding of clinical trial operational expectations by
reviewing the study design, expected pace of enrollment, dosing
schedule, and translating study assumptions into robust demand
forecasts. Aid in the creation and management of IRT algorithms
based on predicted conduct of clinical trials and established
forecasts. Responsible for regular updates of previously created
forecasts (at multiple levels of granularity, as required)
corresponding to revised milestones or current information for
ongoing trials (e.g. actual inventory levels, actual site and
patient enrollment). Schedules, coordinates preparation for and
manages Drug Projection Review Committees in partnership with
Clinical Drug Supply & Logistics (CLO). Advises Clinical Drug
Supply & Logistics (CLO), IOPS and Clinical management of resource
constraints and recommends strategies which will influence the
ability of CLO to meet existing or anticipated demands. Attend
Strategic Program Team meetings and participate in presenting
program-level, aggregate forecasts and demand plans to members of
senior management. Define and track KPIs to measure forecast
accuracy as well as improve cycle times and inventory management.
Participate in the management of advanced forecasting and
simulation software, which will enable CLO supply chain excellence
and increase the value of the forecasting function to both upstream
and downstream stakeholders. Responsible for optimizing demand
through the analysis of multiple scenarios and comparing associated
cost and risk to identify the best-fit supply strategy. Contribute
to the development of automated forecasting technologies that
integrate clinical assumptions from existing repositories and
translates into robust demand forecasts used for future resource
planning. Demonstrates strong understanding of the function of
forecasting in the supply chain and has the ability to creatively
translate that knowledge to develop forecasting tools/processes
that will achieve standardization and enhance efficiency.
Additional competencies include knowledge of packaging and
labeling, global distribution, IRT technology, outsourcing
management, performance metrics, project management, and
conformance of quality and compliance requirements. Experience with
forecast, planning, and simulations software a plus. May require up
to 25% travel This role may be for you if you have: Demonstrated
experience in clinical forecasting including the ability to
translate complex clinical trial designs into demand forecasts and
supply plans to meet business objectives. Prior experience with
forecasting and simulation optimization software preferred. Strong
influencing, negotiating and problem-solving skills, including
across functional, geographical and cultural boundaries. Ability to
multi-task and work in a fast paced and dynamic environment Track
record of good project management. Risk identification and
management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to generate trust by demonstrating the highest level of
consistency between communications and associated output. Maintains
professional integrity in all areas of aspects of their work,
especially under pressure. Demonstrated ability to develop new ways
of working; understanding of the function of forecasting in the
supply chain in order to improve the value proposition to
stakeholders; creativity to aid in establishing robust business
processes related to the forecasting function. Ability to make
forecasting decisions that align work with organizational
priorities, even in ambiguous situations, and provides an adequate
level of guidance to other functional areas to empower them to make
similar decisions to achieve common goals. In order to be
considered qualified for this role, a minimum of a Bachelor's
degree and 8 years of relevant experience in the
biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, with 5 years minimum in
clinical supply management. A Masters/MBA/PharmD with 5 years of
